Solar panels are built to last 25 years or more. If you mount them on a roof that only has a few years left, you’ll eventually pay to remove the panels, replace the roof, and reinstall the panels, an expensive, avoidable mistake. That’s why the smartest time to go solar is right after a new roof, or at the same time.

Mount panels on an old roof and you’ll pay to remove and reinstall them when the roof fails. Doing the roof first means the panels stay put for their full life.
Solar mounts penetrate the roof. When the same crew does the roof and the solar, those penetrations are flashed and sealed properly, so the roof doesn’t leak around them.
When separate companies do the roof and the panels, a leak turns into finger-pointing. One company doing both means one point of accountability.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Jen Silver founded Roofing Utah in 2019. By then she’d already spent years in the Utah roofing business, starting out on the phones in inside sales and working her way up to general manager of a local roofing company, where she nearly doubled its annual sales in under two years.
She built Roofing Utah to be a contractor homeowners could count on from the first call to the final walkthrough. Today it’s one of the fastest-growing roofing companies in Utah, and Jen is a founding member of Women-Owned Businesses of Northern Utah.
