The modern standard for flat commercial roofs
Most commercial buildings have flat or low-slope roofs, and on those, a single-ply membrane does the work that shingles do on a house. TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) has become the leading choice because it’s reflective, tough, and its heat-welded seams hold up far better than the glued and tar-based systems it replaced.
The material matters, but on a flat roof the installation matters just as much. Drainage, seams, and flashing details are where a commercial roof is won or lost, and where we focus.
Why TPO
What TPO brings to a commercial roof
Why it’s the default choice for so many Utah buildings.
Heat-welded seams
TPO seams are welded into a continuous surface rather than glued. That’s the biggest reason it outlasts older systems, the seams don’t come apart.
Reflective and energy-smart
TPO’s reflective surface bounces back Utah’s intense summer sun, which keeps the building cooler and can lower cooling costs on a large flat roof.
Durable and low-maintenance
TPO stands up to UV, weathering, and normal foot traffic well. With basic maintenance it delivers a long, low-fuss service life.
Proper drainage and detailing
We make sure the roof actually sheds water to the drains, no ponding, and that every curb, vent, and edge is flashed correctly. That’s what makes the system last.

Why homeowners choose us
Straight answers to the worries we hear most
Maybe you’ve been burned before, or you’re worried you will be. Here’s what makes us different.
“My roofer took the deposit and disappeared.”
We hear this one a lot, and it’s part of why Jen started Roofing Utah. We treat every job as a real commitment to your home. That means showing up when we say we will and finishing what we start. And if something needs attention down the road, we’re still here to take the call.
“The leak came back a week later.”
If a repair doesn’t hold, it wasn’t really a repair. So we look for what’s actually causing the leak instead of just covering the spot that’s easiest to reach. We use the right materials and install them properly, so the next rainstorm isn’t a reason to worry.
“I can't tell if I need a repair or a replacement.”
This is one of the most common spots to be stuck in, and it’s where a lot of homeowners get pushed toward the priciest option. We’ll give you an honest read instead. Sometimes a repair is all you need. Other times, replacing the roof is the smarter call over the long run. We’ll tell you which one it is and why.
“Storm chasers keep showing up at my door.”
After a big storm, out-of-town crews show up uninvited, promise a great deal, and ask for money upfront. Some of them you never see again. We’re a local company based in Roy, working across Ogden, Davis County, and the Salt Lake Valley. We were here before the storm and we’ll be here after it, which matters when you need someone to stand behind the work.
“I have no idea if my insurance will cover this.”
Insurance claims are confusing, and most roofers leave you to sort it out on your own. We don’t. We’ll help you document the damage, figure out what your policy actually covers, and handle the paperwork the insurer wants. Whether it was hail, wind, or one of those classic Wasatch Front storms, having someone who knows the claims process makes a real difference.

FAQs
Questions Utah property owners ask us
Clear answers, no runaround.
What is TPO roofing?
TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply membrane for flat and low-slope roofs. Its heat-welded seams and reflective surface make it durable and energy-efficient, which is why it’s so common on commercial buildings.
How long does a TPO roof last?
A quality TPO roof, properly installed and maintained, commonly lasts 20-30 years. Ponding water and poor installation are what cut that short.
Is TPO good for Utah's climate?
Yes. Its reflectivity handles our intense summer sun, and a well-installed membrane holds up to freeze-thaw. Proper drainage is key given our snow.
Can you install TPO over my existing roof?
Sometimes a recover is possible, but not always the right call. We inspect the existing roof and deck and tell you honestly whether to recover or tear off.
What causes flat commercial roofs to fail?
Usually ponding water, failed seams, or bad flashing at curbs and penetrations. Good installation and regular maintenance prevent nearly all of it.
