Tile is the premium end of roofing. It gives a home a distinctive, high-end look you can’t fake with shingles, and it lasts a very long time, often 50 years or more. For the right home and the right owner, it’s a roof you install once and admire for decades.
It’s not the right fit for every house, though. Tile is heavy, so the structure has to support it, and it costs more than asphalt or even metal. We’ll be straight with you about whether your home is a good candidate before you spend a dime.
The trade-offs
Tile is fantastic at some things and demanding in others. Here’s the honest picture.
A quality tile roof can last 50+ years, outliving asphalt two or three times over. For a forever home, that longevity can justify the higher price.
Tile gives a home character, whether it’s a Mediterranean clay profile or a clean concrete tile. It’s a real curb-appeal and resale upgrade.
Tile is heavy. Not every home is built to carry it without reinforcement, so the first question is always whether your structure can support it. We check that up front.
Tile costs more to buy and install, and it takes a crew that knows how to do it right. Done poorly, the underlayment and flashing fail long before the tile does.
We’ll look at your structure and your goals and tell you honestly whether tile is the right call, or point you to a better fit.
Why homeowners choose us
Maybe you’ve been burned before, or you’re worried you will be. Here’s what makes us different.
We hear this one a lot, and it’s part of why Jen started Roofing Utah. We treat every job as a real commitment to your home. That means showing up when we say we will and finishing what we start. And if something needs attention down the road, we’re still here to take the call.
If a repair doesn’t hold, it wasn’t really a repair. So we look for what’s actually causing the leak instead of just covering the spot that’s easiest to reach. We use the right materials and install them properly, so the next rainstorm isn’t a reason to worry.
This is one of the most common spots to be stuck in, and it’s where a lot of homeowners get pushed toward the priciest option. We’ll give you an honest read instead. Sometimes a repair is all you need. Other times, replacing the roof is the smarter call over the long run. We’ll tell you which one it is and why.
After a big storm, out-of-town crews show up uninvited, promise a great deal, and ask for money upfront. Some of them you never see again. We’re a local company based in Roy, working across Ogden, Davis County, and the Salt Lake Valley. We were here before the storm and we’ll be here after it, which matters when you need someone to stand behind the work.
Insurance claims are confusing, and most roofers leave you to sort it out on your own. We don’t. We’ll help you document the damage, figure out what your policy actually covers, and handle the paperwork the insurer wants. Whether it was hail, wind, or one of those classic Wasatch Front storms, having someone who knows the claims process makes a real difference.

FAQs
Clear answers, no runaround.
A quality tile roof can last 50 years or more, which is one of its biggest selling points. The tile often outlasts the underlayment beneath it, which may need service along the way.
That’s the first thing to check. Tile is heavy, and some homes need structural reinforcement to carry it. We assess this before recommending tile.
Meaningfully more, both in material and labor. But over a 50-year life it can compete on value. We’ll give you the honest numbers for your home.
Yes, when it’s installed correctly. Good tile handles sun and freeze-thaw well. The weak points are the underlayment and flashing, which is why quality installation is everything.
Usually, yes. Individual tiles can crack from impact or foot traffic and be replaced without redoing the roof. We handle tile repairs as well as full installs.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Jen Silver founded Roofing Utah in 2019. By then she’d already spent years in the Utah roofing business, starting out on the phones in inside sales and working her way up to general manager of a local roofing company, where she nearly doubled its annual sales in under two years.
She built Roofing Utah to be a contractor homeowners could count on from the first call to the final walkthrough. Today it’s one of the fastest-growing roofing companies in Utah, and Jen is a founding member of Women-Owned Businesses of Northern Utah.
