Small habits, years of extra roof
Most roofs don’t fail because of one dramatic event. They fail because small problems, a bit of lifted flashing, a clogged valley, a few lost shingles, get ignored until water finds its way in. Regular maintenance is just staying ahead of that, and in Utah’s freeze-thaw climate it makes a real difference.
A little attention twice a year, plus a check after big storms, keeps your roof doing its job and protects the biggest investment on your house. Here’s what that looks like, and where we can help.
Where to start
Everything that keeps a Utah roof healthy
Pick your starting point. Each guide links back here.
Seasonal checklist
A simple, Utah-specific checklist for keeping your roof healthy all year.
Ventilation & ridge vents
Proper attic airflow is one of the biggest factors in how long a roof lasts.
Roof restoration
Extend a tired roof’s life with restoration instead of a full replacement.
Why it pays off
What good roof maintenance actually does
It’s not busywork. Each of these saves you money down the line.
Catches small problems early
A lifted shingle or a bit of failed flashing is a cheap fix today and an expensive leak next season. Finding it early is the whole game.
Extends your roof's lifespan
A maintained roof reaches the top of its expected life. A neglected one fails years early, and an early replacement is the most expensive outcome of all.
Protects your warranty
Some manufacturer warranties expect reasonable upkeep. Skipping maintenance can put coverage at risk when you need it.
Keeps the rest of the house dry
The roof protects everything under it. A small roof leak becomes attic mold, stained ceilings, and rotted wood if it’s ignored.

Why homeowners choose us
Straight answers to the worries we hear most
Maybe you’ve been burned before, or you’re worried you will be. Here’s what makes us different.
“My roofer took the deposit and disappeared.”
We hear this one a lot, and it’s part of why Jen started Roofing Utah. We treat every job as a real commitment to your home. That means showing up when we say we will and finishing what we start. And if something needs attention down the road, we’re still here to take the call.
“The leak came back a week later.”
If a repair doesn’t hold, it wasn’t really a repair. So we look for what’s actually causing the leak instead of just covering the spot that’s easiest to reach. We use the right materials and install them properly, so the next rainstorm isn’t a reason to worry.
“I can't tell if I need a repair or a replacement.”
This is one of the most common spots to be stuck in, and it’s where a lot of homeowners get pushed toward the priciest option. We’ll give you an honest read instead. Sometimes a repair is all you need. Other times, replacing the roof is the smarter call over the long run. We’ll tell you which one it is and why.
“Storm chasers keep showing up at my door.”
After a big storm, out-of-town crews show up uninvited, promise a great deal, and ask for money upfront. Some of them you never see again. We’re a local company based in Roy, working across Ogden, Davis County, and the Salt Lake Valley. We were here before the storm and we’ll be here after it, which matters when you need someone to stand behind the work.
“I have no idea if my insurance will cover this.”
Insurance claims are confusing, and most roofers leave you to sort it out on your own. We don’t. We’ll help you document the damage, figure out what your policy actually covers, and handle the paperwork the insurer wants. Whether it was hail, wind, or one of those classic Wasatch Front storms, having someone who knows the claims process makes a real difference.

FAQs
Questions Utah homeowners ask us
Clear answers, no runaround.
How often should I have my roof checked in Utah?
Twice a year is a good rhythm, spring and fall, plus a check after any major storm or hailstorm. Our freeze-thaw winters are hard on roofs, so don’t skip the seasonal look.
Can I maintain my roof myself?
You can do the ground-level parts, keeping gutters clear, watching for lost shingles, checking the attic for leaks. Getting on the roof safely and spotting subtle damage is where a pro helps.
Is roof maintenance really worth the money?
Almost always. The cost of a check-up and small fixes is a fraction of an early replacement or repairing water damage inside the house.
What's the most important maintenance task?
Keeping water moving off the roof, clear gutters and valleys, and keeping flashing intact. Standing or backed-up water is behind a huge share of roof problems.
Do you offer maintenance visits?
Yes. We can inspect, handle small repairs, and tell you honestly what does and doesn’t need attention. Reach out and we’ll set it up.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Jen Silver
Jen Silver founded Roofing Utah in 2019. By then she’d already spent years in the Utah roofing business, starting out on the phones in inside sales and working her way up to general manager of a local roofing company, where she nearly doubled its annual sales in under two years.
She built Roofing Utah to be a contractor homeowners could count on from the first call to the final walkthrough. Today it’s one of the fastest-growing roofing companies in Utah, and Jen is a founding member of Women-Owned Businesses of Northern Utah.
